LPG Price Hike: Oil companies have increased the rates of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 101.50 starting November 1. In the capital city of Delhi, the 19kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 1,833. Mumbai offers the most affordable pricing at Rs 1,785.50 among the four major metropolitan areas, with Chennai having the highest price of Rs 1,999.50 and Kolkata at Rs 1,943.

Notably, this price increase is specific to 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders and does not affect domestic LPG cylinder rates. Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain steady, with Delhi at Rs 903, Kolkata at Rs 929 for the 14 kg cylinder, Mumbai at Rs 902.5, and Chennai at Rs 918.5.

This price adjustment in November follows a previous increase in October, when the rate for the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder was raised by Rs 209. Prior to the November increase, the retail price for a commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi had reached Rs 1,733.50.

In contrast, there were no changes in domestic LPG cylinder prices in the previous month. Additionally, commercial LPG cylinder rates were reduced in September and August, providing temporary relief for consumers.

The government’s decision to provide extra subsidies, particularly to benefit rural women, follows its recent approval to extend the PM Ujjwala Yojana scheme, aiming to include an additional 7.5 million women. This expansion is part of a larger initiative to increase the total number of beneficiaries to 103.5 million over the next three years.

On August 29, the Union Cabinet reduced the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cooking gas cylinder by ₹200 as a gesture ahead of Raksha Bandhan, particularly for women. This move comes in response to mounting criticism of the government over the rising inflation.
