New Delhi: A case of rape has been registered against PP Madhavan, the personal secretary of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Secretary Madhavan is accused of raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. The police of Uttamnagar police station has registered a case in the related matter. In this case, a case has been registered against PP Madhavan under section 376 of rape and section 506 of threatening to kill.
“A complaint was received at the Uttam Nagar police station on June 25. A case under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. We are investigating the matter,” said M Harsha Vardhan, Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Though the DCP did not name the political leader, officials in the Delhi Police said the allegations were levelled against Madhavan.
According to the complaint, Madhavan has been accused of raping the woman on the pretext of marriage and job. Sources said the woman’s husband — who died in 2020 — used to work at the Congress office in Delhi where he affixed party hoardings.
A police officer said the victim was allegedly raped and threatened with dire consequences by the accused if she reported the matter.
