Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress on Monday pledged to offer Rs 2,000 a month to a housewife in every family; if the party forms government in the state in the forthcoming assembly elections in the Karnataka. The money will be directly credited to their accounts.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made the announcement during the Na Nayaki event, organised by the Karnataka Congress at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. According to the Congress, 1.5 crore housewives will benefit from the “Gruha Lakshmi” scheme.
Priyanka Gandhi, while addressing the gathering, said, “Do you think your life has been better since the BJP came to power?” “Has your life changed in any way?” “Before casting your vote, consider the last few years and assess your life.”
She further added, “Don’t you want quality education and a government job?” Don’t you want the freedom to choose what’s best for your family and yourself? Therefore, politics is your strength.
Earlier, the party had announced to give every home in the state 200 units of free electricity each month to all households in the state.
The Congress has been trying to attract voters by announcing its plans to reduce the burden of excessive LPG costs and daily expenses that a woman has to face. According to the Congress, when a woman is empowered, her family as a whole and the country as a whole will become a strong force in the country.
Assembly elections in Karnataka are likely to be held in May this year, and both the BJP, the state’s ruling party, and the Congress, its main opponent, are eager to win.
