Conrad Sangma to be sworn in as Meghalaya CM for 2nd time on March 7

New Delhi: NPP chief Conrad Sangma will take oath as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for the second time on March 7. Earlier, Sangma met Meghalaya Governor Phagu Chauhan on Friday and staked claim to form the government in the northeastern state. According to BJP state president Ernest Mowry, PM Modi will also attend this function.

New Delhi: NPP chief Conrad Sangma will take oath as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for the second time on March 7. Earlier, Sangma met Meghalaya Governor Phagu Chauhan on Friday and staked claim to form the government in the northeastern state.

According to BJP state president Ernest Mowry, PM Modi will also attend this function. Konrad Sangma is the current CM. He claimed that he has the support of 32 MLAs. However, he did not disclose which parties he is supporting. Before going to Raj Bhavan, Sangma held a press conference and said that we have a clear majority. BJP has already supported us. Some other parties are also giving their support.The results of the assembly elections in Meghalaya were announced on Thursday.

No party got an absolute majority in the state. However, the incumbent ruling party NPP emerged as the single largest party with 26 seats. The party won 26 out of 59. At the same time, UDP remained the second largest party. The party won 11 seats. UDP won only 6 seats in 2018 assembly elections.

At the same time, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC managed to win 5 seats in the state. BJP got two seats. In the same election, the Voice of People’s Party managed to win four seats. At the same time, HSPDP and PDF managed to win two seats each. While two independents also won the election.

On the other hand, along with Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland also declared results on Thursday. BJP returned to power in Tripura. Tripura CM Manik Saha met Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya and resigned from the post. Along with this, he presented the claim to form the government. Manik Saha said that he is expected to take oath on March 8. Manik Saha said that we came to the Governor today and I submitted my resignation to him but the Governor said that I will work till the new government is formed.
