Lucknow: As the Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a night curfew in capital city Lucknow in the wake of surging new Covid-19 cases, Vyapar Mandal has asked traders of Aminabad and Chowk to close their shops between 7pm and 8pm.
As per a senior general secretary of Lucknow Vyapar Mandal, there are nearly 7,500 shops in Aminabad, Moulviganj and Rakabganj and 5,000 shops in Chowk and Nakkhas area. Over 30,000 people are associated with these shops, so it takes time to manage the closing time. He also said that they have asked all shopkeepers to start winding up from 7pm and ensure complete closure before 8pm.
Meanwhile, with unprecedented rise in new Corona cases, Uttar Pradesh has also made its way in the list of the worst hit states pushing the Covid-19 fatalities toll to 9,003 with 39 deaths on Thursday. while 8,490 new cases took the infection tally to 6,54,404, a senor official said.
“The state reported 8,490 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. While the death toll reached 9,003, the number of active cases are 39,338. The number of patients treated and discharged is now 6,06,063,” additional chief secretary, heath, Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters.
Among the fresh cases, 50 per cent cases are from four districts — Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Kanpur, he said.
Over 78 lakh people have been inoculated with Covid-19 vaccine in the state till now including over 66 lakh who have got the first shot and over 11 lakh who were administered both the doses, Prasad further said.
