New Delhi: Amidst the fears of the fourth wave, there has been a tremendous jump in the cases of corona in the country on Thursday. More than 20 thousand new cases of corona were reported in the country. According to the data released by the Ministry of Health, 20,139 cases of corona were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infected people has increased to 43,689,989.
With 38 death reported due to this infection in last 24 hours. The total death toll climbed 525,557. Now the total number of active patients in the country has increased to 1,36,076. The top five states where 62.56 per cent of the cases were reported were Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Kerala alone is responsible for 17.6 per cent of the cases.
The positivity rate in the country at present is 5.10%. In the last one day, there has been a jump of about 19 percent in cases. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 86,81,64,348 samples have been tested up to July 13 for COVID-19. Of these 3,94,774 samples were tested on Wednesday.
According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 16,482 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.49 per cent and total recoveries data reached to 4,30,28,356. A total of 13,44,714 Covid vaccine doses were administered within that period, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,99,27,27,559.
