In a tragic incident, a couple in Telangana’s Karimnagar district has been arrested for allegedly killing their mentally ill daughter. The 24-year-old victim, Priyanka, had been suffering from a mental disorder for several years despite ongoing treatment. She was married and had a 13-month-old son.
Long-Term Mental Illness: Priyanka had been battling a mental disorder for years. Her parents sought medical treatment and arranged her marriage despite her condition.
Recurrence and Desperation: Following a recurrence of her illness, the parents again pursued treatment and even took her to a place of worship, but saw no improvement.
Alleged Murder Frustrated by the lack of progress, Narsaiah and Yellavva allegedly strangled Priyanka with a rope while she was asleep at their home on May 14.
They informed their son-in-law of her “natural death” and conducted her funeral the next day. However, suspicions arose among villagers, leading to a police complaint.
Confession and Arrest Upon investigation, the couple confessed to the crime. Rajanna Sircilla Superintendent of Police, Akhil Mahajan, confirmed their arrest and remand to judicial custody. Further investigations are ongoing.
