A Delhi Court granted interim bail on Tuesday to five suspects who were not detained by the CBI during an investigation related to the Delhi Government Excise Police case.
New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted interim bail on Tuesday to five suspects who were not detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) during an investigation related to the Delhi Government Excise Police case.
Special Judge MK Nagpal on Tuesday granted bail to Kuldeep Singh and Narender Singh, two former employees of the Excise Department. The court also granted bail to businessmen Sameer Mahendru, Arun Pillai, and Gautam Mootha. They were granted bail by the court on a personal bail bond for Rs 50,000 and a surety bond for a similar amount.
The matter was set for January 24, 2023, while the court also sought a response from CBI about their regular bail plea. The court noted that none of the five suspects were arrested during the investigation.
The same court had already granted bail to two accused, Vijay Nair and Abhishek Boinpally.
Vijay Nair, and Abhishek Boinpally will have to remain in judicial custody as ED arrested them in an excise money laundering case, but they haven’t gotten bail because it is pending before the trial court.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) communications in-charge Vijay Nair and Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Boinpally both got bail orders from the Rouse Avenue court in a Delhi excise policy case on November 14, 2022.
However, Nair and Boinpally had to remain in Tihar, as the Enforcement Directorate had taken them into custody in the other case of money laundering.
