Birmingham: The Commonwealth Games 2022 has formally concluded. On the last day of the Games, on Monday 8 August, the finals of some games including badminton, hockey and TT were held, in which India won 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. So total India added six medals, including four gold, on the final day of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, taking India’s total medal tally to 61, which includes 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. Due to this, India finished fourth in the final standings of the Games. India’s total medal tally at the Birmingham Games is five less than India in the previous edition, where they finished third with 66 medals. But in 2018, Indian shooters won a total of 16 medals, who were denied the opportunity this time.

India’s medal tally was expected to decline due to the absence of shooting, but in the end this effect was reduced due to unexpected medals from sports like lawn bowl, judo, athletics. All things taken into account it was a commendable performance by the Indian contingent in Birmingham.
Birmingham ends, Victoria in command
The conclusion of the Birmingham Games has been announced and with this the flag of the Commonwealth Games has now been handed over to Victoria, the host of the next Games. The 2026 Games will be held in the Australian state of Victoria. This will be the first time, when not one city, but one state has been entrusted with hosting and events will be held in different cities.
PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen made India proud by winning gold in women’s and men’s singles on the last day of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Now the pair of shuttlers Satwik Sai Raj Ranki Reddy and Chirag Shetty has won gold in the mixed doubles. Along with this, Achanta Sharath Kamal also captured gold in table tennis. In hockey, the Indian team lost 0-7 against Australia. With this, India has a total of 22 gold medals in the medal tally.
