New Delhi. Indian athletes won 2 medals on Sunday in the triple jump event of the Commonwealth Games-2022. This happened for the first time in the history of these games that India won top-2 medals in triple jump. In the 22nd edition of Commonwealth Games released in Birmingham, India’s Aldose Paul and Abdullah Abubacker won gold and silver medals respectively for the country. India could also have won the bronze of this event, but Pravin Chitravel fell behind Perinchef of Bermuda by a small margin.
Aldos Paul won the gold medal by covering a distance of 17.03 meters. At the same time, Abdullah was at number two, who jumped 17.02 meters. Perincheff covered 16.92 meters while fourth-ranked Praveen covered a distance of 16.89 metres.
The 25-year-old Aldos, who hails from Kerala, crossed the figure of 17 meters in his third attempt and became the champion on the basis of this. At the same time, Abdullah crossed this magical figure in his 5th attempt and made it to the top-2. India now has 16 gold medals.

Meanwhile, Indian sprinter Sandeep Kumar won the bronze medal in the 10000m racewalk. In the current Commonwealth Games, India’s medal tally has now reached 46, which includes 16 gold, 12 silver and 18 bronze.
