In the final match of table tennis mixed doubles, India’s brilliant pair Sharath Kamal and Shreeja Akula, creating history, have captured the gold medal. In the final held, he defeated Malaysia’s Jawen Choon and Keren Line 3-1. With this win, both the Indian pair have created history in the Commonwealth Games.

Achanta Sharath Kamal 40-year-old defied age in a gold medal match with Sreeja Akula in mixed doubles over Malaysia’s Jawen Chung and Karen Layne 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6.This is India’s 18th gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
India has 18 Gold, 12 Silver and 19 Bronze in its account. India has overtaken New Zealand to take the fifth position. New Zealand has a total of 46 medals including 17 Gold, 12 Silver and 17 Bronze.
