Cycle tracks in Lucknow and Noida to be demolished by Yogi govt

LUCKNOW: Urban development minister Suresh Khanna today stated that if the cycle tracks are causing hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic and narrowing down the roads then they would be done away with it.

The Yogi Adityanath government is looking forward to remove these cycle path keeping in mind if these cycle tracks are hampering traffic movement or have narrowed down the existing roads.

The previous Akhilesh government had constructed over 100km of bicycle track in Lucknow and Noida while it had planned to build another 270 km elsewhere in UP.

The SP government had claimed that the tracks had been built to promote “green and non-motorised transport” while the opposition parties accused the Akhilesh regime of promoting its symbol, the bicycle.

In Lucknow, a 35-km stretch costing Rs 31 crore was inaugurated by Akhilesh in 2015 while the construction of another 31 km, costing Rs 34 crore, was in the final stages.
