New Delhi: Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ formed over east-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea near Goa at 11.30 pm on Tuesday night, has now turned into a severe storm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest bulletin has said that ‘Biparjoy’ has now started moving northwards and is very likely to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours. Along with warning about Cyclone Biparjoy, today the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in many states.
On June 7, 2023, an alert has been issued regarding heavy rains in Lakshadweep, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and West Rajasthan have been warned of strong surface winds.
Apart from this, heat wave warnings have been issued in Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand even today.
Talking about other states, Yellow Alert has been issued for Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.
