Authorities in south Andhra Pradesh are proactively addressing the powerful storm as Cyclone Michaung makes landfall. The following are the main developments:

Specifics of the Landfall:

Currently located in south Andhra Pradesh, the eye of Cyclone Michaung is predicted to make landfall in the next two hours.

Amaravati Meteorological Centre reports gales near the center with an intensity of 90-100 km per hour, gusting up to 110 kmph.

Evacuation Efforts:

Over 9,400 people have been evacuated from vulnerable areas in seven districts, seeking refuge in 211 relief camps.

District-wise evacuations include Konaseema (910), Kakinada (523), Krishna (1,814), Bapatla (702), Prakasam (128), Nellore (1,991), and Tirupati (3,386).

Relief Measures:

To help those impacted by the cyclone, 10,251 food packets and 18,068 water packets have been distributed.

Authorities are advising locals to observe safety precautions and remain inside during the cyclonic impact.

Government Preparedness:

Teams from the NDRF and district police are prepared with cutter machines, ropes, JCB excavators, and skilled swimmers, and they are on high alert.

In many Andhra Pradesh districts, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted, with exceptionally heavy rainfall in a few isolated locations.

The unceasing rains in Tirumala have caused the dams to overflow, resulting in curtailments and increased awareness.
