A Dalit girl who had been allegedly gang-raped and, after that, set on fire by two men in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district died after battling for 12 days.
The alleged sexual assault on the teenager occurred earlier this month in Kunwarpur village. After raping the girl, the assailants didn’t leave her, but poured diesel on her body and lit the fire. The victim was rushed to the hospital with severe burn injuries. Doctors and medical teams tried their best to save the life of the girl but failed in their mission. She succumbed 12 days later.
Police have so far arrested both the culprits who were involved in the case.
The body of the deceased girl will be handed over to her family in Pilibhit after an autopsy in Lucknow.
Currently, girls have been set ablaze. The same incident recently took place in Jharkhand’s Dumka, where the accused poured petrol on the girl and set her on fire. Girls are totally unsafe. The number of rape cases is increasing with the passing of time.
