In a significant development, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) carried out the demolition of the sprawling farmhouse belonging to the late liquor baron, Ponty Chadha, valued at approximately Rs 400 crore in Chhatarpur, Delhi. The operation, conducted over Friday and Saturday, aimed to reclaim government land occupied by unauthorized construction.

DDA officials cited the ongoing exercise as part of their initiative to recover government land that had been subject to unauthorized occupation and illegal construction. Spread across 10 acres, the high-profile farmhouse was a prominent property linked to Chadha, also known as Gurdeep Singh. The officials disclosed that the operation resulted in the acquisition of five acres of land on the first day, followed by the demolition of the main building on the remaining portion on the subsequent day.
Notably, no immediate response was received from Chadha’s Wave group in reaction to the demolition.
This action is part of a broader demolition program in Delhi, as observed in a previous initiative in northeast Delhi’s Gokulpuri area. From January 13 to January 17, the DDA executed a similar operation, demolishing unauthorized encroachments, including commercial showrooms, spanning around four acres of land.
As the aftermath of the demolition unfolds, the DDA’s efforts to reclaim government land continue to target instances of unauthorized occupation and illegal construction across the city.
