Washington: An incident of mass shooting has come to light in Chicago, America late Saturday night. The incident took place in the Yard area, where a family function turned into mourning after the firing. 8 people were shot in the firing, including three children. A 7 year old girl died after being shot. According to reports, the girl was shot in the head. Chicago police suspect that the shooting incident on the city’s south side may be gang-related.
Chicago Police said that among the injured were a 1-year-old infant and a 7-year-old boy, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and are being treated at the hospital in critical condition. The other people injured in the firing are aged between 19 and 40 years. According to police, all the victims are of Hispanic origin. People of South American origin living in America are called Hispanic.
The firing incident occurred around 9.30 pm on Saturday night. According to Chicago Police Deputy Chief Don Jerome, a family event was going on at 52nd Street near Damen Avenue. During this time, two attackers reached outside the house and started firing bullets at the people standing there. During this time a girl was shot in the head and died on the spot.
Police reached the spot and gave first aid to the injured and sent them to the hospital. Police have recovered 18 rounds of bullets from the spot. Police officer Jerome said, “This was not a random act of violence. This was probably the work of people associated with gangs. Whatever may have happened, three innocent children were attacked tonight and one tragically died.” “These actions of criminals are appalling and unacceptable in our city.”
