New Delhi: On Tuesday, officials said that a 40-year-old woman died after a fire broke out at a residential building in eastern Shakarpur area of Delhi. While Firefighters rescued 26 people, including a one-year-old child, while a woman died they added.
Officials further said that the fire started in its parking area in the early hours of the day and engulfed the entire structure. They added that there were 60 people in the building when the fire broke out. Upon receiving the information, fire tenders reached the spot and started the rescue operations.
After this incident, Officials said, “There were more than 60 people in the building… Many people saved their lives by jumping out of the building”. All of them were rushed to a hospital, they said.
Giving information about this incident, Delhi Fire Service officials said,”One woman died after a fire broke out at a residential building in the Shakarpur area of East Delhi last night. Fire brigade reached the spot, rescued 26 people and doused the fire.” The fire was doused after a few hours of firefighting, they said.
The fire personnel rescued people one by one by placing a ladder next to the window of the building. Another official of the Delhi Fire Service said,”We got a fire call at about 1.05 am. We immediately pressed three fire engines into service. Later, five more fire engines were rushed to the spot. The matter was informed to the police immediately.”
