Delhi: 19-year-old man kills woman he wanted to marry, arrested

Mumbai: Delhi Police arrested a man in Mumbai for the alleged murder of a woman he was about to marry. After killing the woman in the floor market of North-East Delhi, the accused hide her body in a plastic bag. The accused was 19-year-old. The victim identified as Shama.

According to the information, The suspect, identified as Sultan, operated an e-commerce delivery and packaging business and reportedly became angry over an interaction between his bride-to-be Shama and her ex-boyfriend. The victim’s family alleged that Sultan had tried to mislead them after the murder by saying that he would help them find her and also go to the police to file a complaint.

The victim woman lived with her family in Farsh Bazar and worked at a beauty parlour. On Sunday evening, police received information about a suspicious bag in a building in Vishwas Nagar, and a woman’s body was found stuffed inside. There were injury marks on her head, and she was strangled with a piece of cloth that was still on her neck.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Meena confirmed that Sultan’s phone was switched off, but tracking efforts pinpointed his presence in Mumbai’s Mulund. In a swift action, Delhi Police’s team led by Additional DCP Rajiv Rawal moved to Mumbai and arrested the suspect. Several teams formed under additional DCP Rajiv Rawal rushed to Mumbai and apprehended him on Monday.

During interrogation, Sultan admitted that he had known Shama for many years and wanted to marry her. He mentioned a confrontation in his office on Saturday. After committing the murder, he packed Shama’s body in a plastic bag and locked it in his office and went to Mumbai to stay with a relative. According to officials, he was about to leave Mumbai before his arrest.

To avoid questions from his relatives about the purpose of coming to Mumbai, Sultan told them that he was looking for a job. The victim’s family’s efforts to trace Shama’s whereabouts are thwarted by Sultan by giving them the false hope that he will file a police complaint and help the family locate Shama.

After Sultan avoided calls from Shama’s brother, the family approached the police and filed a formal complaint. The family suspects that many people are involved in the murder of their daughter. The brother alleged, “We suspect that there are more people involved in the crime and he had no intention of marrying her.”
