Delhi: 2 killed, 3 injured as car hits them in Alipur area

New Delhi: Police said that two persons were killed and as many were injured when the car they were travelling in was hit by another vehicle in northwest Alipur area of Delhi on Saturday. He also said they were crossing the road when the incident happened.

New Delhi: Police said that two persons were killed and as many were injured when the car they were travelling in was hit by another vehicle in northwest Alipur area of Delhi on Saturday. He also said they were crossing the road when the incident happened.

The police officer said, “We recovered a bumper along with a vehicle number plate, a keypad mobile phone, and an accidental white car 100 meters away from the spot,” adding that Reeta was pronounced dead. The incident happened near Mukraba Chowk on NH-44 on Thursday when the car, a Honda Amaze, carrying five people of an extended family was going to Khatu Shyam Mandir in the area.

According to the information, The victims were identified as Reeta (25), a resident of Samaypur, and her brother Satya Prakash (45), a resident of Nand Nagri. After the incident, An eyewitness in the case, Devi, told cops that she and her relatives had gone to Khatu Shyam Mandir for prayers on November 23. When they were crossing GT Road, one vehicle hit them. We suspect that the car was driven at high speed, causing the driver to lose control and hit them,” the officer said.

A senior police officer said that Reeta died on the way to hospital on Thursday, Prakash succumbed to injuries during treatment at LNJP Hospital on Friday. They added that the injured Reena Devi (40) and Yash (6) were admitted to the Trauma Centre, Civil Lines.

Anita Devi, who survived the accident safely, told the police that she was going to Khatu Shyam Mandir with her relatives. When they were crossing GT Road, a white car hit them, the officer said.

Based on Anita’s complaint, a case was registered at Alipore police station under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 A (causing death by negligence).

He said that the attack vehicle and a mobile phone were later recovered from the spot. Police said the ownership of the offending vehicle has been established and further investigation is underway.Police said the bodies of the victims were handed over to the families after postmortem.
