Massive fire erupts at a house in Delhi's Dwarka South after an LPG cooking gas cylinder exploded injuring as many as five people, the police said on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Massive fire erupts at a house in Delhi’s Dwarka South after an LPG cooking gas cylinder exploded injuring as many as five people, the police said on Wednesday.

The incident which happened at a flat on Tuesday night was suspected to have happened due to a gas leak, an official said. The injured have been rushed to the hospital.

Four fire fighters were rushed to the spot and it took the fire tenders about two hours to douse the blaze, police said, reported news agency sources.

Yesterday, similar fire incident happened in Delhi in which a 50-year-old woman died and three others were injured in a fire that broke out at a house in Delhi on Tuesday. The incident took place in Palam Colony when the family was sleeping at around 2 am. Police received a call regarding the blaze around 2.30 am and rushed to the spot. They sent the injured persons to the hospital by PCR vans and called the fire department.

Victims were identified as Renu, who was pronounced dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre due to severe burn injuries. Her husband Pappu, (52) and their two sons, Mohit (25), and Shivam (23) are undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital with minor burn injuries.
