New Delhi: Delhi Airport has introduced RFID technology based tags for passengers, which will make it easier for passengers to monitor their luggage. Many times passengers have to face difficulties in knowing on which belt the luggage is coming and there is also a possibility of losing the luggage, so this service has been started for the ease of the passengers.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, with the help of the tag based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, passengers will be able to know when and on which belt their luggage is arriving in the terminal. GMR Group-led DIAL said Delhi airport is the first airport in India to offer this facility.
The statement said that passengers will be able to buy this tag at the Delhi airport. After this, they will have to scan the QR code given on it and register on the website ‘bag.hoi.in’. After the tag is registered, passengers will have to tie it in their bag or they can keep it inside the bag as well.
When the goods reach the Delhi airport, passengers will start getting information about it through SMS on the registered mobile number. The facility has been started at Terminal 3 on a pilot basis and will soon be commercially launched, the statement said.
