Delhi: Chirag Flyover to fully open today, benefiting lakhs of people

New Delhi: Chirag Delhi Flyover will be fully opened from today. Public Works Department Minister Atishi said the maintenance work of the flyover has been completed. The complete reopening of the Chirag Delhi flyover from Wednesday will benefit millions of commuters who travel daily between Nehru Place and the Indian Institute of Technology.

The Public Works Department (PWD) completed the maintenance work ahead of schedule. He said that now both the carriageways have been completed, the flyover will open for traffic from Wednesday. Atishi said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal monitored the maintenance work and regularly monitored the progress.

Atishi said maintenance work had to be halted several times last month due to incessant rains, delaying the deadline. However, the PWDs showed their commitment by working round the clock and completing the work ahead of schedule. We are proud that PWD has taken another step towards making Delhi jam-free.

Atishi said the re-opening of the flyover would benefit lakhs of commuters.

1. Those going to Greater Kailash or Nehru Place will benefit from IIT.

2. Those using Panchsheel Flyover, Ring Road, Moolchand to Lala Lajpat Rai Marg will benefit.

3. Motorists going to Noida, Faridabad, Okhla, Basant Kunj, AIIMS and Airport will benefit.

Work on the first carriageway of the flyover was completed on 31 March while the repair work on the second one began on 1 April.Earlier the carriageway was completely closed during the maintenance work. However, one lane of the second carriageway remained open for traffic while it was being repaired.

Maintenance work on the carriageway from Indian Institute of Technology to Nehru Place was the last to be completed. Three out of four lanes of both carriageways are open for traffic. All four lanes will start working from Wednesday.
