Delhi court extends AAP leader and Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain’s ED custody till June 13

New Delhi: On Thursday, A Delhi court extended APP leader and Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain’s Enforcement Directorate custody till June 13 in a money laundering case. ED had sought the extension of remand after the recovery of Rs 2.82 crore and 133 gold coins during raids at his premises.

Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain was arrested on May 30 by the ED after four hours of questioning. Earlier, At least six or seven locations including the minister’s residence and a jewellery shop in South East Delhi were searched by Delhi.

ED had initiated a money-laundering investigation on the basis of the FIR registered by the CBI in 2017 under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the PC Act, 1988 against Jain his wife Poonam Jain, and Ajit Prasad Jain, Sunil Kumar Jain, Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain. The CBI had filed a charge sheet on December 3, 2018, against Jain, his wife Poonam Jain, and other accused.

Aam Aadmi Party leader including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has come out in full support of the arrested minister and accused the BJP-led central government of political vendetta ahead of the elections in Himachal Pradesh. Jain is the AAP in-charge for the elections in the hill state scheduled to be held at the end of this year.
