Delhi excise policy case: Delhi court extends Manish Sisodia judicial custody till April 3

New Delhi: In the Delhi Excise Policy Case, the Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia for 14 days in the CBI case. Now he will remain in judicial custody till April 3. Manish Sisodia is currently in ED custody and was produced in the court through video conferencing.

New Delhi: In the Delhi Excise Policy Case, the Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia for 14 days in the CBI case. Now he will remain in judicial custody till April 3. Manish Sisodia is currently in ED custody and was produced in the court through video conferencing. Presented in court through VC on completion of judicial custody in CBI case.

In the case, the CBI has said that the investigation is still ongoing and is at a critical juncture.However, till March 22, he is in the custody of ED. In this case, Rouse Avenue Court on Friday remanded Manish Sisodia to ED till March 22. Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in the liquor policy case on February 26 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Delhi’s former deputy chief minister, who resigned as a minister on Feb 28, two days after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the excise policy case.The ED arrested him on March 9 in the Tihar Jail, where he was lodged in connection with the CBI case linked to alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. He was sent to ED’s custody till March 17, which was later extended till March 22.

In a statement,The CBI said that Manish Sisodia was arrested as he gave evasive replies and did not cooperate in the investigation despite being confronted with evidence to the contrary. Both Sisodia and the AAP have strongly denied any wrongdoing, and accused the BJP-led central government of ‘misusing’ central agencies to harass opposition leaders, including Sisodia.

The excise policy was subsequently withdrawn by the AAP government.Sisodia was among 15 others booked in an FIR filed by the CBI. On March 5, several opposition leaders, including Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, in a joint letter to prime minister Narendra Modi, denounced both Sisodia’s arrest, and the Centre’s alleged ‘misuse’ of investigative agencies against members of opposition parties.
