Delhi: Four held in road rage incident on Mehrauli-Gurugram Road

In a disturbing incident on the Mehrauli-Gurugram road, four individuals were arrested by the Delhi Police following a road rage episode that escalated into a violent confrontation. The incident occurred on Friday, leading to injuries and subsequent legal actions.

Arrested Individuals Identified

The four arrested individuals have been identified as Manoj from Rohtak, Haryana, Kaviraj from Bhiwani (Haryana), Anil Kumar from Aya Nagar, Delhi, and Prabhat Sharma from Chhatarpur.

The road rage incident unfolded after two groups engaged in a heated argument following a collision between their vehicles. The clash took place on Friday, resulting in a physical altercation between Sachin Lohiya and Vikrant, the driver of Prabhat Sharma.

Injuries and Medical Attention

As the initial scuffle intensified, Prabhat Sharma allegedly called upon his associates – Manoj, Anil, and Kaviraj – to join the scene. The situation quickly escalated into a brutal assault on Sachin Lohiya, leaving both Prabhat Sharma and Lohiya injured.

Sachin Lohiya sustained severe injuries during the altercation and was subsequently admitted to the AIIMS trauma center for medical treatment.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The arrests were made based on a complaint filed by Sachin Lohiya and a video recording of the road rage incident. Delhi Police detained the accused individuals, who were later identified as associates of Prabhat Sharma.

Counter Complaint and Legal Proceedings

Witnesses at the scene reported that one of the accused individuals was wearing a jacket resembling Delhi Police personnel attire. The police recovered the said jacket from the accused, Manoj, who claimed to have purchased it from the Jharoda Kalan area.

Additionally, a separate case was filed by one of the accused, Prabhat Sharma, against Sachin Lohiya. The complaint accused Lohiya of vandalizing Sharma’s car and physically assaulting him. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered, leading to Lohiya’s arrest. However, he was subsequently released on bail.

Investigations are ongoing, and the police continue to question individuals connected to the incident to ascertain the full details surrounding the road rage altercation.
