Thousands of taxi drivers in Delhi will get relief from this decision of the government.
Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlaut tweeted that the validity of permits of all taxis running on CNG and other clean fuels and holding contract carriage permits has now been extended to 15 years. This step will help all our taxi driver brothers who will now be able to drive their CNG vehicles for 15 years.
Will help in reducing pollution
Removing this discrepancy, the government has decided to extend the validity of permits for taxis running on CNG or clean fuel to 15 years. This move by the Delhi government will help promote environment-friendly transport options and reduce pollution levels in the city. Till now, the permit validity of taxis registered under City Taxi Scheme 2015 with DL1RT was only 8 years. In contrast, the validity of all other taxis, including black and yellow cabs and other categories, was 15 years, which is in line with the age of the vehicle as defined by the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
