New Delhi: The Delhi High Court (HC) on Friday issued summons against Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, and Netta D’Souza, in response to a civil defamation lawsuit brought by Union minister Smriti Irani. She demanded compensation of more than Rs 2 crore for “baseless” claims made against her and her daughter.
Justice Mini Pushkarna asked the Congress leaders to delete all posts, tweets, retweets, videos, and images related to the subject be taken down from social media.
“Confirming the advancement in the situation involving the operation of a,” Jairam tweeted about the “illegal” Goa bar: “We look forward to presenting the facts before the court.” “We will counter the spin that Ms. Irani is using and dispute it.”
The court said if the defendants fail to obey the court’s order within 24 hours, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube shall take down the same.
Congress leaders suspected that Irani’s daughter Zoish has been running an “illegal” bar in Goa and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sack her from his cabinet.
