Delhi liquor policy case: ED to question Manish Sisodia in Tihar jail today

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will interrogate Manish Sisodia, arrested in connection with the alleged scam in Delhi's liquor policy, today. Manish Sisodia has been shifted to Tihar Jail on Monday. In such a situation, the ED team will go to Tihar Jail for questioning at around 11 am.

Delhi liquor policy case: ED to question Manish Sisodia in Tihar jail today

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will interrogate Manish Sisodia, arrested in connection with the alleged scam in Delhi’s liquor policy, today. Manish Sisodia has been shifted to Tihar Jail on Monday. In such a situation, the ED team will go to Tihar Jail for questioning at around 11 am.

Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on 26 February in connection with the alleged scam in the liquor policy. After this, he remained in CBI custody for 7 days. On Monday, the CBI produced him in Rouse Avenue Court. The CBI had demanded to send Sisodia to judicial custody. The court sent Sisodia to judicial custody till March 20.

CBI arrested Manish Sisodia on 26 February. This action was taken in the case of alleged scam in the controversial liquor policy of the Delhi government. CBI has arrested Sisodia in this case after about 6 months of investigation. The new excise policy was implemented by the Kejriwal government in Delhi on 17 November 2021. The Delhi government had argued to end the mafia rule by bringing a new excise policy. It was also claimed that this would increase the revenue of the government.

In July 2022, the then Chief Secretary of Delhi submitted a report to LG VK Saxena in this matter. In this along with the mistake in the excise policy, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was also accused of giving undue benefits to liquor traders. Based on this report, the CBI registered a case against 15 people including Sisodia on 17 August 2022. On August 22, the ED registered a case of money laundering under the Excise Act
