Delhi liquor policy case: Ex Deputy CM Manish Sisodia judicial custody extended till May 12

New Delhi: Delhi Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia till May 12 in the excise policy case being investigated by the CBI. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was produced in the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday after his judicial custody in an excise case being probed by the CBI ended.

The court was told by the CBI that the investigation into the excise scam conspiracy is still going on but the investigation against Sisodia has been completed. The CBI had filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Rouse Avenue court on April 25. In which former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was made an accused. For the first time, Sisodia’s name was included in a charge sheet. The court fixed May 12 as the date to consider the charge sheet. CBI had arrested Manish Sisodia on February 26 in this case.

Sisodia’s lawyer said that the chargesheet has written that the investigation is ongoing, so according to the recent judgment of the Supreme Court, Sisodia’s default becomes a basis for bail. Manish Sisodia’s name was included in the second chargesheet filed by the CBI in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. They have been charged under Sections 7, 7A and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 120 (B) and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A special court in Delhi on Monday extended Sisodia’s judicial custody in corruption and money laundering cases registered by the CBI and ED respectively in the alleged excise scam. Special Judge MK Nagpal extended Sisodia’s custody till April 27 in the CBI case and April 29 in the ED case.
