Delhi liquor scam case: AAP leader Manish sisodia’s judicial custody extended till April 26

New Delhi: On Thursday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has extended Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody till April 26. Today, Probe Agency ED has submitted a status report related to the investigation of documents in the money laundering case related to the alleged scam in the excise policy case.

Rouse Avenue Court will hear the case next on 26th April at 11 AM. AAP MP Sanjay Singh and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia attended the court hearing through video conferencing. During the hearing, the court directed the accused to give a list of documents whose investigation is not yet complete.

Earlier, the court had extended the judicial custody of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sisodia till 18th April. The probe agencies have alleged that the beneficiaries allegedly diverted “illegal” gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection.

During the hearing on Sisodia’s bail plea, his lawyer had argued that there was a delay in completing the investigation of the case. He cited the bail granted to another accused Benoy Babu and said that Sisodia is no longer in an influential position.

The CBI arrested former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia on 26 February 2023 for his alleged role in the Delhi liquor scam. The ED arrested Sisodia on 9 March 2023 in a money laundering case that emerged from the CBI FIR. Sisodia resigned from the Delhi Cabinet on 28 February 2023. In fact, both ED and CBI are investigating Sisodia’s role in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor policy.
