Delhi: Massive fire breaks out at a paint shop in Jaitpur, Kirari areas; 2 Dead

A fire broke out at a hardware shop in South Delhi's Jaitpur area on Saturday evening. After the information of the case, five fire engines along with the local police were sent to the spot. The fire brigade brought the fire under control after about four hours.

New Delhi: A fire broke out at a hardware shop in South Delhi’s Jaitpur area on Saturday evening. After the information of the case, five fire engines along with the local police were sent to the spot. The fire brigade brought the fire under control after about four hours.

A person working in the shop died in the accident. Jaitpur police station has registered a case in the matter after taking possession of the dead body.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dev told that the deceased Kundan (22) lived with his family in Khadda Colony of Jaitpur. The family consists of father Kanhaiya and brother Chandan. Chandan told that Kundan used to work in a hardware shop located on Gurudwara Road. The shop belongs to Puneet Goyal.

Puneet lives with his family in Harinagar Extension. Police told that Kundan was present in the shop on Saturday afternoon. At the same time the fire broke out. Due to inflammable material in the shop, the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire shop.

Seeing the fire in the shop, people informed the police about the matter. After getting the information, the police reached the spot. Five fire engines were also sent to the spot. The fire brigade team started the work of controlling the fire and after about four hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control.

After dousing the fire, police and fire brigade team entered the shop and found Kundan’s dead body lying there. He died of burns in the fire. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for postmortem.

The police have registered a case on Chandan’s statement and started investigation. Till the time of writing the news, crime team of South Eastern district and FSL team of Rohini were present on the spot.
