Delhi Mayor election disrupted for 3rd time amid huge protest

New Delhi: Mayor elections have been organized for the third time on Monday after the Municipal Corporation election results in the country’s capital Delhi. All the councillors of BJP and Aam Aadmi Party are present in it. After the uproar in the last two meetings, today it was expected that Delhi would get its mayor, but it could not happen and once again the Speaker had to adjourn the proceedings of the House. In such a situation, the picture of whether the mayoral election will be held or not is not clear.

Earlier, the presiding officer had adjourned the proceedings of the House twice after the uproar by the councilors in the mayoral election. Due to this the mayoral election has not yet been held. In such a situation, a meeting has been called in the House for the third time on Monday, but even before the commencement of the proceedings, the rhetoric between the two parties has started once again.

AAP’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has made a big allegation on the Bharatiya Janata Party by tweeting on Monday. He said, “The BJP has instructed its corporators not to hold the mayoral election again in the MCD meeting today.”

Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia says that the BJP has told its councilors to create ruckus on some pretext as soon as the house starts, after which the presiding officer will again adjourn the house indefinitely like last time. Once the House is adjourned, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi will give the date after 20 days.

BJP has made a sharp comment on the allegations of Lieutenant Governor Manish Sisodia. BJP’s working president Virendra Sachdeva wrote in a tweet that the reality is that the Aam Aadmi Party does not trust its leaders in the Municipal Corporation, it does not trust its leadership and that hesitation is clearly visible.

At the same time, Virendra Sachdeva has also accused the Aam Aadmi Party that it is trying to buy the councilors of his party but their councilors are honest.

Significantly, MCD elections were held on December 4 last year. After this, in the first two sessions held on January 6 and January 24, the proceedings were adjourned without electing a mayor after AAP and BJP councilors created ruckus. During this, a heated argument was witnessed between the two parties.
