After coming to the Mayor’s Chair during the proceedings of the House, Shaili Oberoi adjourned the House for an hour and on returning, asked for the election of six members of the Standing Committee. After about two hours, Shelly returned to the chair and started the election process. He allowed the members to carry mobiles for voting of the Standing Committee.
BJP councilors opposed this. After some time the BJP corporators again protested that the members were taking photographs of the ballot papers after casting their votes. This is an unconstitutional method of voting.

The election of the members of the Standing Committee could not be done till 8 o’clock in the night.
