Delhi Mayor Election: Midnight ruckus in Delhi MCD house; BJP,AAP councillors clash; Mayor says BJP tried to attack

Amidst the election of the Standing Committee, there was a lot of uproar in the House. Councilors threw bottles at each other in the House. There has been a scuffle. After the uproar, the House had to be adjourned again for an hour.

New Delhi: After the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday, there was a lot of uproar regarding the election of the members of the Standing Committee. During this, there was an incident of fighting and pushing between the councilors. According to the information, bottles were also thrown by the councilors in the house. Some councilors climbed on the table. You say that even if it is morning, the proceedings of the House will not be adjourned without the standing committee elections.

Aam Aadmi Party’s style defeated BJP’s Rekha Gupta by 34 votes and once again there was an atmosphere of celebration in AAP. CM Arvind Kejriwal reacted to this and said that the goons were defeated. After this, Aale Mohammad Iqbal of AAP was elected as the deputy mayor.

After this, a ruckus started regarding the election of six members of the Standing Committee, which continued till 12 o’clock in the night. AAP and BJP councilors threw papers at each other. Shelly Oberoi tweeted and alleged that BJP councilors tried to attack her.

The Mayor has alleged that the BJP corporators attacked him as well. Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said the session will not end without elections. Even if the House continues for several days. The Standing Committee will also be made up of you. The Supreme Court has ordered the elections to be held in the first meeting itself. At the same time, the AAP councilors left the house at around one o’clock in the night, but the BJP councilors sat waiting for the mayor.

Actually, in the election of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, there was a ban on taking mobiles along with the members during voting. All the members also followed it. Both these elections were completed peacefully.

After this, the Mayor adjourned the proceedings of the House for an hour and said that as soon as he returns, he will start the election of the Standing Committee, but after a delay of about two hours, the Mayor returned to the Chair. During this, the councilors recited Hanuman Chalisa in the House and also sang patriotic songs. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bajrang Bali were chanted in the House. BJP councilor Shikha Rai questioned Corporation Secretary Bhagwan Singh that Mayor Madam is returning to her chair, she has been missing for two hours. After about ten minutes, the mayor returned to the chair.

Regarding the ruckus, Shelly Oberoi said that according to the order of the Supreme Court, when the election of the Standing Committee was being conducted, then the BJP councilors tried to attack me! BJP’s hooliganism is such that they are trying to attack a woman mayor.

At the same time, CM Kejriwal, in his reaction to this reaction of the Mayor of Delhi, said that he is surprised about this episode.

After coming to the Mayor’s Chair during the proceedings of the House, Shaili Oberoi adjourned the House for an hour and on returning, asked for the election of six members of the Standing Committee. After about two hours, Shelly returned to the chair and started the election process. He allowed the members to carry mobiles for voting of the Standing Committee.

BJP councilors opposed this. After some time the BJP corporators again protested that the members were taking photographs of the ballot papers after casting their votes. This is an unconstitutional method of voting.

Uproar in the house increased, till then 43 members had waited in the house. The uproar continued in the House for about one and a half hours. The election of the members of the Standing Committee could not be done till 8 o’clock in the night. Meanwhile, Corporation Secretary Bhagwan Singh showed papers to Mayor Shelly Oberoi that voting with mobile is not allowed.

After this, the mayor ordered voting without mobile, but on this the BJP councilors said that the voting done earlier with mobile is unauthorized, it should be cancelled. It was not decided till late night whether the voting would happen again or proceed from there.
