New Delhi: In a shocking road tragedy, a man was killed and another person sustained injuries after a speeding Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) low-floor electric bus loses control and rammed into multiple cars and two-wheelers in the Rohini area. No passenger was in the bus when the accident occurred at around 2.45 pm near Vishram Chowk in Awantika. The video of the tragic accident, captured by CCTV cameras installed in the area, has gone viral on social media.

According to reports, the occurrence took place around 2.45 p.m. In a video that going rounds on social media, the bus could be seen hitting a car, then an e-rickshaw and several motorcycles parked on the side of the road. Meanwhile, several passers-by could be seen running away from the ill-fated bus to save their lives. While a man lost his life on the spot, another sustained injuries.

Police said the bus driver, Sandeep Kumar, was apprehend from the spot. He told the police that he suffered from a seizure due to epilepsy, a brain disease. Police have accessed multiple CCTV footage of the crash, where the bus could be seen hitting vehicles one by one. A few of the parked two-wheelers were damaged completely under the bus.

Soon after receiving the info about the incident, the Delhi police officers rushed the spot and commenced the probe. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the driver of the DTC bus lost control of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem and the injured victim was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“Preliminary enquiry revealed that the driver of a DTC bus lost control of the bus and hit a car and some two-wheelers. The driver of the bus has been detained. Accordingly, necessary legal action is being taken in the matter,” a statement by the police said.

At the time of the accident, the victim, suspected to be a rag-picker, was crossing the road, police said. A case has been registered at Rohini South police station and further probe into the matter is underway, they added.
