Delhi Police arrests ‘most wanted criminal’ from Jabalpur 5 years after he jumped parole

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has nabbed a “most wanted criminal” from Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Sunday. The criminal identified as Vijay Pahalwan. The criminal was arrested five years after he went absconding during his parole period. The age of criminal Vijay Pehalwan was 52 years.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has nabbed a “most wanted criminal” from Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Sunday. The criminal identified as Vijay Pahalwan. The criminal was arrested five years after he went absconding during his parole period.

The age of criminal Vijay Pehalwan was 52 years. He was booked in 24 cases including murder, attempt to murder and sexual assault in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra. He was also linked in cases related to criminal conspiracy, theft, criminal intimidation and the Arms Act.

They added that a reward of Rs 2 lakh was also announced on information leading to his arrest. Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) RS Yadav said a team from the crime branch was given the task of arresting people named in cases of heinous crimes and absconding.

Giving information about this incident, Yadav said,”Information was collected from police and judicial records. Several police files, SCRB records and the entire criminal records of the accused maintained in the respective trial courts were analysed. From the analysis of the records, it was found that in the murder case a The declared criminal was hiding in Jabalpur.”

According to the police, after tracing the wrestler’s location, a special team was formed and sent to Jabalpur, which led to his arrest. He said, “In 2011, he (Pahalwan) kidnapped Raghuveer Singh (69) from Delhi’s Kishangarh area and killed him. He took the victim to Delhi’s Andheri Mor area, where he asked her to give him his plot. When the victim refused, they shot him and dumped his body in a forest area near DLF Phase-II in Gurugram.”

Police said that soon after being arrested, the wrestler revealed that he had got two days parole in April 2018 and he had skipped it “Information from police and judicial records was gathered. Complete criminal records of accused maintained in numerous police files, SCRB records and concerned trial courts was analysed. From the analysis of the records, it was found that a proclaimed offender in a murder case was hiding in Jabalpur,” Yadav said.

Police said that soon after being arrested, the wrestler revealed that he had got two days parole in April 2018 and he had skipped it. Using the name Vikram Singh, the accused started working in a ‘Pahlwani Akhara’ in Kohlapur, Maharashtra Police said he met a woman during his stay in Maharashtra and after two years he moved to Raipur in Chhattisgarh, where he started a property business.

He told that during his stay in Raipur, the wrestler came in contact with his friends and one of them asked him to start a property business in Jabalpur. After working for two years in Raipur, he shifted his business to the city in Madhya Pradesh.

The Special Commissioner of Police said, “For the last one year, he was running his property business in Jabalpur. He used to buy land, villas and farms and sell them at high prices and earn huge profits. He has a farmhouse in Jabalpur area, in which he employed 14 people.”

Yadav said, the criminal had hired four armed bodyguards for his security. The officer said, “He has two sons, both of whom are lawyers, who were involved in the criminal cases registered against him.” Officials further said, “the cases in which the wrestler has been named include criminal conspiracy, theft, criminal intimidation and cases related to the Arms Act.”
