New Delhi: The man who urinated on a woman co-passenger in midair on an Air India flight on November 26 has been identified as Shankar Mishra. Currently, he has been changing locations on a regular basis to avoid arrest.
The Delhi Police have conducted raids in Mumbai and Bengaluru because Shankar runs his offices in these two cities. He frequently visits both cities. The police claim that the accused belongs to Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, so he may be hiding either in Delhi or Bengaluru.
The accused was drunk while he urinated on his co-passenger, she was a senior citizen and in her seventies. She was also travelling in business class on an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi.
Shankar Mishra is the vice president of the India Chapter of an American multinational financial services company, Wells Fargo, headquartered in California.
Due to Mishra’s isolation and refusal to cooperate with the police probe, the Delhi Police has requested a LOC against him.
A case was registered against Shankar Mishra under the Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene act in public place), 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 510 (misconduct in public by a drunk person) as well as the Aircraft Rules.
Mumbai is home to Mishra. Delhi police sent a team to Mumbai at his known locations to arrest him. But he was absconding. “Our teams are attempting to find him.” According to a top police official, PTI.
