Delhi records minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees, air quality moderate

New Delhi: The national capital Delhi recorded a windy morning on Wednesday with a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius, according to the central pollution control board’s national bulletin.

According to the Meteorological Department, the humidity level in the air at 8.30 am was 100 per cent. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts strong surface winds to continue, touching a speed of 30 km/hr during the day, accompanied by partly cloudy skies, with air quality likely to improve even further during the rest of the day.

Meteorologists have predicted the maximum temperature to be around 20 degrees Celsius with strong winds during the day. In comparison, Delhi had recorded a maximum of 20.2°C on Tuesday, which is 2°C below normal for this time of the year. Delhi had recorded wind speeds touching 35 km/hr on Tuesday.

The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 156, which is in the moderate category. Air quality index from 0 to 100 is considered as good, while from 100 to 200 it is moderate, from 200 to 300 it is poor, and from 300 to 400 it is said to be very poor and from 400 to 500 or above it is considered as severe.
