Delhi: SC gives notice to UP government on bail plea of ​​Kerala journalist Kappan in Hathras case

The Supreme Court on Monday heard the bail plea of ​​Kerala journalist Siddiqui Kappan. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the UP government in this matter. In fact, the UP government had booked Kappan under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for conspiring in the Hathras case.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday heard the bail plea of ​​Kerala journalist Siddiqui Kappan. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the UP government in this matter. In fact, the UP government had booked Kappan under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for conspiring in the Hathras case.

A bench of the country’s new Chief Justice UU Lalit and Justice SR Bhatt heard the petition of Kerala-based journalist Kappan. Actually, the UP Police has filed a criminal conspiracy case against Kappan under UAPA. Journalist Kappan, arrested under strict laws like UAPA and sedition, had filed a bail plea in Mathura court, hearing which the court refused to grant him bail. After this he had approached the Allahabad High Court, but was disappointed.

On Monday, Chief Justice UU Lalit and Justice Sr Bhatt’s back hearing. The Supreme Court has issued notices for September 9 in the case of Siddiq Kapon’s bail plea.

Journalist Siddiqui Kappan was arrested by the Mathura Police on 5 October 2020 for creating disturbances in law and order after the Hathras rape case, when he was on his way to the village of Hathras to meet the family members of the Dalit girl.
