Delhi: Security of Rahul Gandhi’s residence increases due to threat by Hindu organizations in intelligence input

A considerable controversy has arisen over the statement of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament regarding Hindus. Amidst all this, Delhi Police has received Intelligence Input from the Intelligence Department that people associated with Hindu organizations may attack the Congress leader.

New Delhi: A considerable controversy has arisen over the statement of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament regarding Hindus. Amidst all this, Delhi Police has received Intelligence Input from the Intelligence Department that people associated with Hindu organizations may attack the Congress leader. In such a situation, Delhi Police has increased the security of Rahul Gandhi and his residence following the order of the Home Ministry. Additional forces have been deployed at the residence. Also, Congress leaders living in the area are being monitored. The intelligence system has been alerted in New Delhi.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had given a statement regarding Hindus on Monday. After this, Delhi Police received inputs late in the night that leaders from Hindu organizations may attack Rahul Gandhi. People of these organizations can put up posters and banners etc. in New Delhi area. Two platoon forces have been deployed at Rahul Gandhi’s residence.

There are 16 to 18 policemen in a platoon. Apart from this, eight to 20 additional policemen have been deployed from Tughlak Road police station. The borders of New Delhi district have been sealed. People are being allowed to enter New Delhi only after checking. Patrolling has also been increased in New Delhi area.

New Delhi District Police Deputy Commissioner Devesh Mahala had given a message to all the ACPs and police station heads posted in the district on Monday night and ordered them to increase security in their areas. All police station chiefs have been asked to strengthen their intelligence systems. Apart from keeping a close watch on Hindu organizations, orders have also been given to find out their upcoming strategy.

It has also been asked to keep an eye on the activities of Congress leaders living in New Delhi area. The Deputy Commissioner of Police has clearly said that no posters or banners should be put up near Gandhi’s residence or at other places.
