Delhi to Dispatch 200 Vehicles to 25 Sensitive Areas During Diwali

New Delhi: The Delhi Fire Department is well-prepared to address any potential emergency situations during the Diwali festival, as stated by a Delhi Fire Service official. A total of 25 vulnerable locations in the city have been identified, and extensive arrangements have been put in place, according to the official.

DFS chief Atul Garg explained that approximately 200 vehicles, along with 2,500 fire personnel, will be stationed at these 25 locations. These fire personnel will be adequately equipped and furnished with motorcycles and SUVs to enable prompt response to fire incidents or emergencies, Garg noted.

The deployment will be active from 5 pm on November 11 until midnight on November 12, coinciding with the Diwali festival celebrated on November 12 this year.

The identified vulnerable locations include Lajpat Nagar Central Market, Lahori Gate, the area near Ghitorni Metro Station, Katran Market near Mangolpuri DTC Depot, Gandhi Nagar Market, Mahipalpur Chowk, Sangam Vihar, Ghazipur Paper Market, the vicinity of Jaipur Golden Hospital, and Yamuna Vihar.

Garg further emphasized that the department has issued general awareness and safety guidelines for the public during the festival, especially regarding the use of earthen lamps or candles. It is essential to note that firecrackers are banned in Delhi.

In 2022, the fire department received a total of 201 fire-related calls during Diwali, an increase from the 152 calls received the previous year. Of these calls, 13 were related to firecrackers, and 21 incidents were ignited by garbage.
