Delhi to Introduce WhatsApp Bus Ticketing System: A Seamless Solution for DTC and Cluster Buses

The Delhi government is set to revolutionize bus ticketing in the national capital with the introduction of a WhatsApp-based system, mirroring the success of the Delhi Metro’s digital ticketing approach. Officials from the Transport Department have confirmed that efforts are underway to implement this innovative system for both Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses.

Delhi to Introduce WhatsApp Bus Ticketing System

Building on the success of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which launched its WhatsApp-based ticketing system earlier this year, the new initiative aims to streamline the ticketing process for bus commuters. The DMRC’s system, initially introduced in May and later expanded to cover all corridors, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro, has set a precedent for efficient and user-friendly mobile ticketing solutions.

To ensure smooth user experience, there will be a cap on the number of tickets a user can generate through the WhatsApp-based system.

To purchase Delhi Metro tickets, passengers can initiate the process by sending a simple ‘Hi’ message to 91 9650855800 on WhatsApp or scanning the provided QR code. This user-friendly approach allows passengers to effortlessly buy metro tickets using their smartphones throughout the entire network. It’s important to note that ticket cancellations are not available in the WhatsApp ticketing system.

For transactions made through credit or debit cards, a marginal convenience fee will be applied, whereas UPI-based transactions will incur no additional charges, enhancing the appeal of this user-friendly and cost-effective solution.

This exciting initiative that promises to enhance the convenience and accessibility of bus ticketing in Delhi, bringing the efficiency of digital ticketing to the palm of every commuter’s hand.
