Therefore, seeing the sensitivity of the polls, the sale of alcohol will be forbidden in the national capital starting on Friday. Dry days will be observed from Friday to Sunday.
The election for the 250 wards of MCD is important for all parties to show their strength at the local level. The result will be declared on December 7. The excise department has already declared that no alcoholic beverages will be served in Delhi on December 7.
Delhi Commissioner (Excise) Krishna Mohan Uppu said on Wednesday that, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that December 2 to 4, and December 7 will be observed as “Dry Days.”
“From 17:30 hours on December 2, 2022 (Friday) to 17:30 hours on December 4, 2022 (Sunday), the above shall be observed as “Dry Days,” the notification said.
Also, “from 00:00 hours to 24:00 hours on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 (the date of the counting of votes and results), will also be observed as a Dry Day,” the notification further said.
A direct contest is on the cards in the upcoming civic polls in Delhi between the AAP and the BJP. The Congress is also in line to show some spark, but they have an outside chance to grab a few seats.
