New Delhi: On Tuesday, an official said that two sisters died in a fire that broke out in a residential building located in Sadar Bazar, North Delhi due to suffocation. After receiving information about this incident five fire tenders and local police reached on the spot.
The fire has been doused and the cooling process is underway. According to reports, firefighters were called to the scene at 2:07 PM after a blaze erupted in a recreational room on the first floor of a house on Chameliyan Road. Five fire tenders responded to the fire.
A senior Fire department official said,”We got a call about a fire at 2.07 pm. Five fire tenders were pressed into service. The fire was in a house. Fire fighters rescued some people from there. We have also informed the police.”
About this incident, Manoj Kumar Meena,Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) said that officers at Sadar Bazar police station received a call regarding the fire and rushed to the spot. It was found that a house at Sadar Bazar’s Chameliyan Road was engulfed in flames. He added that five fire tenders arrived and brought the blaze under contron.
Rescue operations were challenging due to heavy smoke in the building and rescue workers had to use gas masks to enter the premises. Sadly, two sisters, Gulshan (14) and Anaya (12), were found trapped in the first-floor bathroom. Despite efforts to rescue them and rush them to a nearby hospital, they were declared dead by medical professionals.
Fire officials managed to rescue the girls by breaking the bathroom door and immediately rushed them to the hospital for medical treatment. Official said that the fire in the recreation room has been completely brought under control and the cooling process is currently underway. Police added that a crime squad has been called in and further investigation is underway.
