New Delhi: A man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly hitting his wife with a hammer and later strangulating her to death after a heated argument in Delhi's Khajuri Khas area, officials said on Wednesday. The accused husband, identified as Sunil, was arrested from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
New Delhi: A man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly hitting his wife with a hammer and later strangulating her to death after a heated argument in Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused husband, identified as Sunil, was arrested from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. He was 28-year-old.
DCP Northeast Joy Ann Tirkey said, “He was found hiding inside a tube well house in a field in Hardoi, UP. During interrogation, he revealed that he had a fight with his wife on September 16, during which he attacked her with a hammer and later strangulated her to death. They were living together for 7 years, and the accused has been arrested.”
Police said, further investigation is underway. According to the police, on September 18, a woman’s body was found lying under the bed. On immediately reaching the spot, the deceased was identified as Draupadi, who also had a 15-year-old daughter and both of them were living with her (daughter’s) stepfather. Draupadi had four children, the remaining three live with her first husband.
“His stepfather is missing. He was last seen on 16 September. We spoke to the neighbors and they told us that there were differences between the couple. We are investigating it from every angle,” Joy Ann Tirkey said on Monday.
