Delhi Waqf Board case: AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan granted bail by Rouse Avenue court

Amanatullah Khan Bail: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) arrested Amanatullah Khan after conducting raids at his premises on September 16.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Waqf Board Chairman Amanatullah Khan has got bail. Amanatullah Khan, arrested on charges of recruitment scam in Waqf Board, has got bail from Rouse Avenue Court. Amanatullah will have to pay a bail bond of one lakh rupees.

Amanatullah Khan was arrested on September 16 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after interrogation in a two-year-old case. During interrogation, raids were conducted at 5 places including the house of Amanatullah Khan. Cas and weapons were recovered from two bases in the raid. After Amanatullah Khan, two of his close friends were also arrested by the police, from whose house cash and weapons were recovered.

According to the FIR, Amanatullah Khan, while working as chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, illegally recruited 32 people by violating all norms and government guidelines.

The ACB also alleged that Khan rented out several properties of the Waqf Board illegally amid allegations of corruption and favouritism. The FIR also alleged that Khan misappropriated funds of the Waqf Board comprising grants-in-aid from the Delhi government, according to sources.

ACB had registered a case against the MLA in the year 2020 under other sections including corruption, which was being investigated by the ACB. He is accused of misusing the position of Amanatullah Khan as the chairman of Delhi Waqf Board and temporarily misplaced many people. However, the Aam Aadmi Party had defended Amanatullah Khan as innocent.
