Delhi’s air quality deteriorates to ‘very poor’, AQI reaches 329

New Delhi: The air quality in Delhi has deteriorated since Diwali. AQI 329 was recorded in Delhi on Thursday morning. Delhi's Anand Vihar recorded AQI 404, Dwarka's AQI 348, India Gate 319, Wazirpur 381, Nehru Nagar 362, ITO 323, Padparganj 355, Ashok Vihar, 380, Jahangirpuri 375, Pusa Road 304, Alipore 343, IIT Delhi 323, Mandir Marg 180 AQI was registered.

New Delhi: The air quality in Delhi has deteriorated since Diwali. AQI 329 was recorded in Delhi on Thursday morning. Delhi’s Anand Vihar recorded AQI 404, Dwarka’s AQI 348, India Gate 319, Wazirpur 381, Nehru Nagar 362, ITO 323, Padparganj 355, Ashok Vihar, 380, Jahangirpuri 375, Pusa Road 304, Alipore 343, IIT Delhi 323, Mandir Marg 180 AQI was registered.

Actually, these situations in Delhi have happened due to fireworks on the night of Diwali. According to the Meteorological Department, today’s maximum temperature has been estimated to be 32 °C and minimum temperature up to 15 °C. Today the sky will be clear.

On Wednesday, Delhi’s particulate matter (PM) 2.5 pollution levels were three to four times above the national standard of 60 micrograms per cubic metre for 24 hours. On Tuesday, the AQI was 303 at 4 pm while it was 312 at 4 pm on Monday, the day of Diwali, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.

Stage one in a case of ‘poor’ air quality (AQI 201-300); stage two for ‘very poor’ air quality (AQI 301-400); stage three for ‘severe’ air quality (AQI 401-450); and stage four for ‘severe plus’ (AQI >450). Weather officials said that the air quality deteriorated in the city because of calm wind conditions and cool weather allowing the accumulation of pollutants.
