As per SAFAR, AQI between the range of 51 and 100 is considered as ‘satisfactory’ or ‘very good’, 101-200 is ‘moderate’, 201-300 falls under the category of ‘poor’. While 300-400 is considered as ‘very poor’, levels between 401-500 fall under the ‘hazardous’ category.

SAFAR AQI prediction

“The AQI in Delhi on Wednesday was in ‘poor’ category. Low wind speeds for the next 2 days (Feb 17th, 18th) are likely to reduce ventilation and AQI is expected to worsen to ‘upper end of poor’ or ‘lower end of very poor’ category. From Feb 19th and 20th onwards, AQI is likely to improve due to high wind speed and strong dispersion, according to a statement by SAFAR.

Air quality in NCR

The air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) fluctuated between ‘moderate’ and ‘very poor’. Gurugram and Noida recorded an AQI of 193 (moderate) and 306 (very poor) respectively on Thursday morning.
