New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is heading a protest march demanding the suspension of 12 RS MPs to be revoked said on Tuesday said, that their voices have been crushed and “This (suspension of 12 MPs) is a symbol of the crushing of the voice of people of India. They have done nothing wrong. We are not allowed to discuss important issues in Parliaments.”
Notably, Opposition MPs led a protest march from the Gandhi statue to Vijay Chowk demanding that the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha members be revoked. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who joined the protesting members.
Gandhi said they are not allowed to raise issues of national importance. “Bills after Bills are being passed in Parliament in the din. This is not the way to run the Parliament. PM doesn’t come to House. We are not allowed to raise any issue of national importance. It is the unfortunate killing of democracy,” he said.

Rahul further called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rajya Sabha Chairman “just implementors” of a power that wants to steal farmers’ income.
“A minister killed farmers. The Prime Minister is aware of it. Truth is that 2-3 capitalists are against farmers… These MPs were not suspended by the Rajya Sabha chairman or the Prime Minister but by the power that wants to steal farmers’ income. The Prime Minister and the chairman are just implementors,” he added.
Veteran leader, P Chidambaram also criticised Modi for skipping Parliament but visits Varanasi.
“PM has such great ‘respect’ for Parliament that he will skip the Dec 13th homage to martyred security staff. He’ll skip everything and go to Varanasi. You’ll only find him in places like Varanasi and Ayodhya, not in the Parliament,” said Congress Rajya Sabha MP P Chidambaram.
It is to be mentioned that, several Opposition MPs, led by Congress staged a demonstration in the well of Rajya Sabha for an hour today, demanding withdrawal of suspension of 12 MPs. TMC’s Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, however, participated in the proceedings of the House.
Meanwhile, as many as 12 opposition MPs were suspended from the Rajya Sabha on November 29 for the entire Winter session of Parliament for their “unruly” conduct in the previous session in August.
The Opposition has termed the suspension as “undemocratic and in violation of all the Rules of Procedure” of the upper house.
Following the ruckus, Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm as Opposition members trooped into the Well of the House and raised slogans demanding the revocation of suspension MPs. Unrelenting MPs continued raising slogans like ‘We want justice’ even as House chairperson M Venkaiah Naidu told members that suspension of MPs will be withdrawn if they express regret about their actions.
