Denmark Open men’s singles: CWG gold medalist Lakshya Sen beats HS Prannoy to enter quarter-finals

Odense: Commonwealth Games gold medalist Lakshya Sen defeated compatriot HS Prannoy in straight games to enter the men's singles quarter-finals of the Denmark Open Super 750 badminton tournament.

Odense: Commonwealth Games gold medalist Lakshya Sen defeated compatriot HS Prannoy in straight games to enter the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Denmark Open Super 750 badminton tournament.

World Championship 2021 bronze medalist Sen defeated world number 13 Prannoy by 21.9, 21.18. He will now face Kodai Naraoka of Japan. Prior to this match, Prannoy and Sen had a win-loss record of 2.2 against each other but Sen put Prannoy under pressure from the start of the match.

World No. 8 Sen took the lead from 5.1 which quickly increased to 11.3. Sen won the first game easily.He kept moving ahead as Prannoy’s game crumbled.

In the second game, Prannoy gave a better account of himself as he kept breathing down his opponent’s neck with slender leads of 5-4 and 11-10. Things remained the same after the interval but Sen broke off at 17-17 to shut the door on Prannoy.
